Every once in a while, I’m going to post a list of 5 songs that I really like. For now, I’m going to post about 5 songs that I’m digging at the moment.

1. “Tulips” by Bloc Party
A pretty little song from their Little Thoughts EP. The guitar lines snake around each other while singer Kele Okereke croons about finding his love. Music video.

2. “Cath…” by Death Cab For Cutie
This song is about a woman who has second thoughts about her marriage. It’s not exactly feel-good stuff, but the music is light and fun. Music video.

3.”Here We Are Juggernaut” by Coheed and Cambria
Whatever feelings you might have about the more industrial direction that Coheed and Cambria took on Year of the Black Rainbow, there’s no denying the sheer badassery of this song’s prog-metal assault. Music video.

4. “Southern Comfort” by Envy on the Coast
It’s a shame that this band broke up. They had a good thing going on Lowcountry, infusing their technical post-hardcore with a dash of southern flair. This song features some haunting excerpts from a Twilight Zone episode, as well as a wicked guitar solo.

5. “I Will Make U Cry” by Nelly Furtado
Before Nelly Furtado became a generic R & B/dance act, she was Canada’s genre-mixing pop princess. Furtado spits blistering tongue-twisters over this song’s bass line. It also features a catchy chorus backed by a Latin-inspired piano riff.
