A short What I’ve Been Reading this week. Enjoy.
- Last week, I wrote about a phenomenon called “e-thrombosis.” Now Eurogamer’s Simon Parkin has a lengthy investigative report on the issue. As great as it is that people are trying to confront this issue by going after Internet cafés, I think we also need to take a deeper look at what social and/or cultural phenomena could be enabling these marathon gaming sessions.
- Emily Rogers of Not Enough Shaders writes about Sony’s decade-long decline. Sony is in a tough financial position right now, and it doesn’t look like things are getting any better. As long as they continue to focus on bleeding-edge hardware instead of on hardware that consumers actually want, they’re going to go further down the hole.
- This is the best XKCD ever.
Well, that’s it for this week. Keep smilin’.
