OH NO, WE’RE BEING ATTACKED BY WASPS!
Now that I’ve got your attention, we’re not being attacked by wasps. We’re just reading stuff on the Internet.
- Sheila Coronel, Steve Coll, and Derek Kravitz of Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism have finally released their monster report on what went wrong during Rolling Stone’s report about the University of Virginia rape scandal. It’s a lengthy read, but it’s well worth your perusal. I don’t have much to say about it that hasn’t already been said, but I think the report’s message is clear: one shouldn’t go searching for stories that fit one’s thesis; one should find a thesis that fits the facts.
- Very little pisses me off more than shitty pseudo-science. Writing for Gawker, Yvette d’Entremont takes down Vani Hari, a.k.a. the Food Babe.
- Finally, over at Thing of Things, Ozy Frantz writes about the inadequacy of the standard model of human relationships.
That’s all for this week. Thankfully, we are still wasp-free.
