This is a pretty cheesy edition of What I’ve Been Reading; there is at least one piece about cheese. (Actually, there’s only one. I don’t really go searching for cheese-related articles.)

  • Levi Gadye of io9 explains how microbial rennet is used to make cheese so that we don’t need to extract it from cow stomachs. Delicious! (Let’s see the anti-genetic engineering fearmongers try to rationalize this one.)
  • Back in 2012, Gawker published excerpts from wrestler Hulk Hogan’s (real name: Terry Bollea) sex tape. (Nope, not linking that here.) Now Gawker is embroiled in a legal battle with Bollea. If Gawker loses, then it could lose a substantial sum of cash. If Bollea loses, then this sets a precedent that effectively legalizes revenge porn. I’m hoping Gawker loses, because while the existence of a sex tape might be in the public interest, its specific contents are not. Kashmir Hill of Fusion explains the situation. Speaking of sex tapes, this one is much better.
  • This is stupid but fun. Tom Barnes, Kate Beaudoin, and Ben Naddaff-Hafrey of Mic have compiled a list of dream supergroups whose members all hail from the same American state. The ones from Nevada and Washington sound pretty cool.

Did you click on the sex tape link actually expecting to see a sex tape? If so, you’re a pervert! Hooray! See you next week.
