The end of the year is fast approaching, which means that year-end lists are on the horizon. But for now, have another dose of things I’ve been reading.
- Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker recently did a candid interview with Salon’s Alex Norcia, discussing, among other things, the plane crashed that burned 65% of his body. It’s a good read.
- Nikesh Shukla of Buzfeed writes about how one of the barriers to diversity on Western television is that only white people are seen as “relatable” to general audiences. As a non-white person, I would like for this attitude to change.
- We can see the effects of climate change happening right now. Jake Bleiberg of Vice reports on a lake in Canada’s Northwest Territories that fell through a natural retaining wall. Mudslides ahoy!
- Finally, we close out this week with a video of Valve’s highly automated process for producing Steam controllers. Neato! (Courtesy of Nathan Grayson of Kotaku’s Steamed blog.)
Well, that does it for this week. See you next week, possibly with some year-end lists!
