What I’ve Been Reading: September 25, 2022

It’s been a while since we last saw each other. How are things going? I love your new haircut. Oh my gosh, did you lose weight? Wow! How are your parents doing? Still keeping on?

Anyway, let’s chat about concerts, polio, and Psychonauts.

New Theme 2: Electric Boogaloo

You may have noticed that I decided to switch the blog’s theme again. This is because the theme I had originally switched to, Twenty Sixteen, had no way to disable automatic infinite scrolling, which made the sidebar you see on the right side of the site on desktop completely inaccessible on mobile. The theme I’m using now, Penscratch 2, is less visually appealing to me, and it still has infinite scrolling, but at least now it’s manual, so the reader has to click or tap a button labelled “Older Posts” to load more posts, and the sidebar widgets are no longer inaccessible on mobile.

The other advantage of Penscratch 2 is that certain formatting elements that didn’t properly transfer over from the old theme have now been restored. No more all-caps headers, yay! You may see me tweaking the site layout and theming a bit over the next few days just so I can find something that’s maximally visually appealing for me, but other than that, I think I’ve settled on the blog’s new appearance.

All right, back to your regularly-scheduled not-giving-a-fuck.

New Theme, Who Dis?

If you’re one of the three people who still reads this blog, then you might have noticed that there’s a new theme. That’s because WordPress retired the old Notepad theme a long time ago, and increasingly it was breaking stuff all over the site. I held on for as long as I could, but as of a couple of days ago, hotlinked images started embedding at full size, which cropped them so just a sliver appeared. So I had to switch to a new theme. I picked the blandest, least offensive one I could find. It shouldn’t have broken too much, but just in case an old entry is unreadable now, drop me a line, and I’ll see what I can do.

I’ve tried to preserve as much of the old site layout as I could. The only things I intentionally dropped were the Relisten and Rewatch entries from the main menu, since I’m not doing those features anymore. Again, if anything looks out of place, let me know.

Alrighty, back to not updating this blog as often as I should!
